I love the Caillou series. The stories are extremely realistic and children have real issues, concerns etc.

In this story, Caillou is being bullied in daycare. Like many children, he does not tell his parents, but he is moody and mean to his sister. He loses his appetite and his mom knows something is wrong. He does not tell the teacher and often just removes himself from the situation so does not play with his friends. When he finally tells his mother what is going on, his father teaches him how to stand up for himself in a positive way. Caillou uses his voice to tell the bully "No" as well as telling an adult who can help.

This is a timely issue and way Caillou handles the problem is very typical of what children often do. His father's solution to the problem is right on. A great book to teach children how to deal with bullies.

This is a cute book where Caillou introduces us to his family including his sister, parents and grandparents. He also take us through his day from getting up, getting dressed, eating, brushing his teeth, going to daycare and playing with his little sister and his parents before going to bed. There is also a short bit about his parents trying to pick his name before he is born. A very simple story that young children would be able to identify with and compare their own lives to. This could be used as a bedtime story or one where you are trying to teach your child about family members and their names and relationship. A good addition to a family library or to use in a daycare of kindergarten classroom. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.… (mer)

When Caillou is potty trained during the day he gets to wear his underwear, but at night he still wears a diaper. Daddy gets him a special seat for the toilet so he does not need to use his little potty anymore. He does not want to wear diapers at night so needs to be able to wake up to use the toilet. Daddy plugs in a nightlight so Caillou will be able to see to get to the bathroom at night. He does not learn right away and still has some accidents, but eventually, he wakes up and keeps his diaper dry at night so he can wear underpants all the time.

Night training takes longer especially with boys so not only is this a good book to share with your little one, but it will also help parents to be patient and less worried about the progress of their child.
