Jeff Manion

This is a really good book on materialism and envy in general. The language is very laid-back, easy for the lay-person to understand and relate to.

This book brought up some interesting things to think about. I'm already trying to apply it.

The book was recommended to me by another counselor who had used it with some of her clients and now I have too. Manion does a great job at drawing the read in with his ability to "connect the dots" through the story of the Israelites journey. I loved the book, and think it's helpful for those who are hurting and in search of meaningful answers to life's pain.

Jeff Manion on taking appropriate financial risk and cultivating a generous spirit. The chief inhibitor to generosity isn't greed; it's fear. Fear of not having enough. And the only remedy for fear is trust. Trust and generosity walk hand in hand. A good-hearted Christian will rarely say no to giving. "I'm not going to do it." A more lethal word is later. "I can't give now, but I'll give later."
