When I sat down to read this book I was hoping for something new and different: I never expected to read it all in one sitting, and never realize that an hour had passed before I realized it. Nick can “see” dead people, and has been ostracized since revealing that fact in grade 4. On what has become a “rite of passage” for 8th graders in the US, he is mysteriously included in the class trip to Washington DC to see the nation’s capital. Almost from the first minute the trip starts to go pear shaped, and Nick and his best (and only) friend Gene are thrown into a mystery of epic proportions.
Someone is stealing artifacts from the 4 presidential assassins to bring them back to life, and Nick is the key to both the success and failure of the mission.

E. M. Marz has taken a new twist on a paranormal series, crafted a protagonist and sidekick who are beautifully realized and brought little pieces of American history to life in detailing the assassins and other figures to life. A logically laid out mystery, full of danger, adventure and even humor, this book will have you gobbling it up in one bite. Although it is found in the Children’s / YA section, this is a read that will entertain and amuse readers of all ages.
