Allmänna fakta

A little zombie just wants a little bite, nibble, lick, or smell of the human brain because it is just that wonderful! This book as told by a zombie explains why the human brain is so amazing compared to other animal brains. It explains the different parts of the brain in child friendly terms and why it is such an important part of the human body,

This book was so fun and creative! I loved the content integration told by a little Zombie! Although it is an elementary nutmeg and geared for 2nd and 3th graders, I shared it with my 5th graders. The illustrations were vibrant and fun, but also very educational with labels, diagrams and a little fictional humor.

It reminds me of the Fly Guy Presents Series by Tedd Arnold. It is a non-fiction book series with little anecdotes by a fly about all different non-fiction topics from bats and castles to police officers. When I taught second graders it was a great early readers series. I also learned that Stacy McAnulty wrote a whole series of Narrative Nonfiction texts about different science topics about space, sun and the ocean.

A little girl proclaims that she wants 100 dogs. "But where would 100 dogs sleep?" ask her parents. The girl has an answer for each of their questions, but she also considers the obstacles they present, constantly revising her request downward by ten (90 dogs, 80 dogs, 70 dogs, etc.). In the end, of course, they adopt just one dog from the shelter; the parents are thrilled ("I can't believe we talked her out of 100 dogs") and so is the girl (I can't believe I talked them into getting 1 dog" - obviously her plan all along!).… (mer)

Well illustrated pictures engage the reader while introducing climate change, its effects, and key vocabulary. Book ends with a call to action with ideas like reusing, reducing consumption and planting trees. Would be a great way to introduce climate activism and care to younger elementary. Great end of book extra information on climate and atmosphere.
