An excellent resource covering the origins of many names of towns and geological features around the State of Oregon. Any resident who has been in the state for any significant period would find this book interesting.
My poor book is almost worn out because I've used it as a reference so many times. The author has been able to find the histories of relatively unknown places and towns and has compiled them into a wonder of a book. I live in Oregon and have often wondered how such and such creek or town or mountain happened to be named what it was, so immediately picked up this book and could generally find out why.
On road trips, we take this book along with us so that if we come across say, "Starvation Creek", we can look it up and find out why it was named that.
