This story picks up during the end of 'Dragon's Forbidden Mate'. If you haven't recently read the prior book it may take a moment to connect as it's mid-action.

I liked that the witch they rescued, Willow, turns out not to be evil. Taylor rescues Willow from the boat and finds himself drawn to her, wanting to protect her. While she's recovering and being questioned, she agrees to have her magic stripped while everything is sorted out. Taylor's brother Damon doesn't trust her but Willow has brought out Taylor's protective instincts and he can't stay away from her. Stripped of her magic she's now the one in danger until her magic returns.

This book isn't just about love between a dragon shifter and a witch, it's also about Willow believing in herself and her magic, realizing they are part of a bigger prophecy and that it is related to important research that Lucas doesn't want the paranormal community to have. I'm looking forward to the next installment of this series.

The Fae prince is a self absorbed, spoiled man used to being catered to until his parents kick him out of the castle.

Darby is one of the common fae trying to make ends meet selling items from her farm at her store on the waterfront.

She finds a man beat up, and unconscious in her drying shed and takes him in, not knowing he's the prince.

I liked the idea of taking bits and pieces of various fairy tales and reworking them and I loved Darby not taking any of Colin's high handed ways. I thought they worked well as a couple. The story seems to be set in more historic times with folks navigating the world via horse and carts so I was quite surprised when the Prince suddenly talks about kicking back to watch TV, I also puzzled over why the thugs who attacked him would take him out to Darby's farm and deposit him in her drying shed. Setting that aside, The Prince not only ends up turning himself around he and Darby end up uncovering a plot against the kingdom.

This is a quick read, with a bit of fantasy and intrigue to go along with the romance, it ends a bit abruptly leaving the expectation that there the rest will addressed in future books in the series.
