An immersive story that has the reader globe trotting along with an intriguing character. The settings are well done, and leave you feeling as if you have visited these other countries. This is probably the brightest part of the book. I loved how great the settings were done; it did not feel like you were breezing through these other countries, but rather like you were really there. The book is well written, with a great plot that is fully defined and seems to have been well hashed out. A good deal of action, but I did mark it down one star because at times the story lagged a bit. Well worth reading!… (mer)

This more an action thriller than a murder mystery. There is intrigue, betrayal, strategy, politics and mercenary action. It more than kept me interested. The character development and plot twists were satisfying. As far as the language some object to, this is the way people in these areas and professions talk. I enjoyed it.

Trophy Target by Allen Mitchum was a very enjoyable thriller. The novel is set in Denmark, French Guiana, and Afghanistan. The story starts off at a French Foreign Legion base that is responsible for controlling illegal gold mining in jungles near the border with Brazil. One of the soldiers who has been most active in shutting down the miners is kidnapped.

The story next moves on to Poland where one of royal princes is competing in a shooting competition. Then on to Denmark where the prince meets with the Prime Minister regarding his missing older brother who is first in line in the royal succession. The prince is told his older brother is believed to be the kidnapped soldier in French Guiana. He had joined the French Foreign Legion because they would not let him serve in the Danish army in a combat role.

This sets up the whole story. The government is not willing to get involved in finding the prince, so the younger brother and his assistant (former Danish spy/army) find a person to investigate and possibly rescue him. The political adviser to the Prime Minister is scheming to get the Danish army out of Afghanistan.

The story is well paced and a quick interesting read. There are enough twists and turns in the plot to keep it interesting. The characters are well developed. You will find this a very good book.

I don't understand why authors seem it is necessary to insert crude and vulgar language in their books. But because I promised to write a review I am living up to my commitment. I would give it five stars if it wasn't for the vulgarity. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed the story. An international intrigue of kidnapping of a Danish royal. I thought it a very plausible scenario that could happen in today's world. There is a lot of different elements of politics, greed, murder, love, religious hate, etc., that keeps you hurrying to read what happens next. They chase the bad guys around the world, even on horses. I enjoyed the many twists and turns and the characters. Quite an imaginative book that was well thought out and researched. If you can get around the language I highly recommend it.… (mer)
