sheds light on the life in limbo they faced in the Kenyan camps of Dadaab after being uprooted by civil war. A varied
and colorful palette lightens, though never undermines, the uncertainty of the boys' future as they long for a reunion
with their mother and a chance to escape the monotony and dangers of the refugee camp.

That climax though!! Well-told and compelling. Reading the author's notes at the end is well worth it, I cried all over again.
This book would work best for middle schoolers since it is a graphic novel.

I thought this book was very powerful and the illustrations were incredible. This book could be available in the classroom for students to read on their own time but I think it's a book that should be encouraged to students.

I absolutely loved this book! It was so incredibly powerful and dealt with harder topics in a graphic novel setting. The story was so raw, beautiful and inspiring. If I were to teach an older grade, I would definitely use this book in the classroom. Due to the nature of the story, I would use this book in a middle school or high school classroom. It's a good conversation starter for a deeper discussion.… (mer)
