Kort biografi
Constance Morrow Morgan was the youngest of three daughters of Dwight Morrow, a partner at J.P. Morgan & Co., later a U.S. Senator, and Elizabeth Reeve Cutter. She accompanied her father when President Calvin Coolidge appointed him U.S. Ambassador to Mexico. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Smith College. Her eldest sister Elisabeth married Aubrey Niel Morgan, heir to a Welsh department store chain, and died of heart disease in 1934. Three years later, Constance married the widower. After her marriage, she earned a master's degree in English literature from Columbia University in New York. She played an influential role in the British Information Services in New York during World War II. When her husband became the personal assistant to the British Ambassador to the USA, Sir Oliver Franks, she was a social asset to the British Embassy in Washington. In 1953, the couple and their four children returned to their farm in Washington State. Constance served on the board of Smith College from 1956 to 1971, and was its chairman for four years. She wrote A Distant Moment (1970), a biography of her mother.
