Om författaren

Irving Nathaniel Morris was born in Trenton, New Jersey on December 18, 1925. During World War II, he served in the Army and was captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from the University of Delaware and Yale Law School under the G.I. Bill. He began practicing law visa mer privately in 1953. In 1948, three men were convicted of raping a woman in Woodlawn Park in Wilmington, Delaware on October 30, 1947. Morris took on Curran v. Delaware and after a decade of pursuing protracted appeals pro bono, he persuaded a federal court to overturn the convictions and rule that perjured testimony by the police had rendered the trial fundamentally unfair. He wrote a book entitled The Rape Case: A Young Lawyer's Struggle for Justice in the 1950s. He later specialized in representing shareholders who claimed misconduct by corporations and in challenging school segregation. He died from complications of diabetes on June 28, 2016 at the age of 90. (Bowker Author Biography) visa färre
