Aside from the recipes, which are fantastic, this is a book to sit down and READ for enjoyment. The photographs are beautiful. I borrowed this from the local library and plan to purchase my own copy. A few of the recipes are involved (the ingredients have recipes), but most of them are simple to make in your own kitchen. The section on sauces is a help for anyone who didn't go to cooking school or take classes.

Reinforced throughout the book: Enjoy the food, use minimal spices and herbs & eat locally in season. Be able to taste the food you are eating instead of overpowering them with spice and other flavors.… (mer)
