Here we go again on another adventure with our favorite duo, but this story shows the full workings and understanding of how a service dog goes about their business in gaining the trust of vulnerable people.

The storyline again is bang up-to-date in dealing with the horrific trade of people for other people's evil intentions and the lengths they will go to in order to protect their empire and wealth.

The characters, scenarios and storyline are totally believable and take the reader to a place of fear, domination, and greed. It shows the kinder side of the service dog, in the way that he has to show compassion and loyalty to the alleged culprit, and how he wins her round to help her remember what happened and to make them feel confident in relating their story.

The chemistry between all of the main characters is one of compassion, sympathy, empathy, and care just showing the more delicate side of investigative work.

As usual, the reader will fall in love with Cody and will want a pet just like him and hopefully, if you have not read any other of the Mark Nolan books will make you want to read them.

Yet again another good novel from an author who has demonstrated his research and knowledge in producing another novel well worth a read.

Angie Taylor and her friends are abducted during a Spring Break trip to Florida. Escaping the kidnapper, she runs into a police officer while holding a bloody screwdriver she used to stab her abductor. The police find her friends in the SUV they rented, all stabbed with a screwdriver, and find no trace of the kidnapper, believing Angie murdered them and is delusional about having been abducted. Following further trauma while being held in jail, Angie goes silent and is transferred to a secure psychiatric facility.

While everyone waits to see if Angie can find her voice again, police convince themselves it's an open and shut case, and her doctor and nurse continue attempts to help Angie speak again. When the FBI sends a special agent, Brenda Reynolds, to dig deeper into the story and seek out the potential kidnapper, she enlists the help of a canine handler who may hold the key to getting Angie to speak again.

This is a fast-paced, action/mystery story with some twists and turns, sensitive content regarding sexual assault and sex trafficking, and an original story line. I appreciated the fact-checking section at the end that described what's real and what's fiction, providing some insight to some of the information given and proving the book to be educational as well as entertaining.

This is an outstanding mystery/thriller. I found myself on the edge-of-my-seat holding my breath as I was reading. Angie was just trying to do what was right. It's crazy what can happen when you ignore your gut. The drama is very intense. I loved every minute of it. The story has twists that just may have you looking over your shoulder. I can remember having a stalker at that age. Though the creeps and chills were there for me, I found the characters well0written. Angie and Brenda are very relatable. The plot was well written and scarily true. It could have been taken from today's headlines. Those are my favorite stories because you feel the thriller, the emotions; you feel it all. The scene at the beginning had me jumping myself, that's how good it was. I will be adding this author to my favorites list. Get out there and buy this one. You must read this one.… (mer)

Jake Wolfe is across between Jack Ryan, Jason Bourne, and Clark Kent. That is a reluctant hero with his boots on the ground and a very specific skill set, hidden behind a mild mannered facade. Okay, maybe not so mild, but still I think you get the picture.

The opening sentence hooked me right in and it was a high octane ride all the way to the end. I also really enjoyed the look into a dog handler’s life. I love that Cody was written as a wounded war veteran with a voice of his own. It is not easy to give words to an animal in setting such as this. This book full of twists, high on suspense and had just enough sarcasm to keep me laughing in all the right places. I see so much potential for a series starring Jake Wolfe and I can’t wait to see what he does next.

This should have been an easy 5 star read. The main character is strong enough to move the story. He is surrounded by a well developed cast of secondary characters that shine on their own all the while illuminating him. Also, the villain, while not quite as sympathetic as the author tried to write him, was dynamic, charismatic and would have been pure evil joy whether he got taken out in this story or lived to torture Jake in a future installment. Despite all the great things this story had going for it, my instinct was the rate it quite low.

The truth is about two thirds through the book I started watching the counter on my kindle to see just when it was going to end. The story never faltered it was just way too much. Too many sub plots (good as they were on their own) drained from the main story and made it drag out. If the author can pull back slightly and streamline his plots a bit, Jake Wolfe is destined to take his place among the most acclaimed bad-asses in action fiction.
