- As one of the premier child therapists in the field, Violet Oaklander is known for her creative uses of play, puppetry, art, music, and storytelling to help troubled kids. Her book, Windows to Our Children is considered one of the standard resources for working with children and adolescents, especially for those who follow an experientially based Gestalt approach. Throughout her career, Oaklander has developed and described methods particularly well suited for dealing with issues such as hyperactivity, childhood trauma, withdrawal, autism, and aggression.
Violet trains many therapists to work with children and adolescents all over the world and is an adjunct faculty member at Pacifica Graduate Institute near Santa Barbara, California, where she makes her home. [from The Mummy at the Dining Room Table, by Jeffrey A. Kottler and Jon Carlson (2004)]
