Call My Name is an emotionally yet realistic view on love and friendship.

This book explores heavy topics pertaining to women and even though I am a woman and have my own fair share of trauma, reading and hearing about other women who go through the same amazes me how strong and resilient we a women is and has to be.

I enjoyed that it spans from the 60’s, “the hippy” era until the 90’s as it was well researched.

All in all, the writing was thoughtful and I would recommend this to other women to read.

*Narrator Review: The narrator on this book did not match the emotions depicted in the characters of the book. It was hard for me to listen to a cheery voice discussing a stillbirth of a child and many other delicate topics. Therefore I would not recommend this as an audiobook*

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
#iReadBookTours

Call My Name: A Novel by Jenni Ogden is one of the most heartwrenching books I have ever read. Emotions are all over the place as I read about thirteen-year-old Olivia and how she is left alone because of her mother’s drug overdose. Olivia is rescued by her mom’s friend, Cathie Tulloch. Cathie’s daughter Cassandra and Olivia become best friends. But as the years go buy Olivia moves to pursue her career, and this is where she meets Ben. Call My Name is a story that spans over several decades, from the ’60’s to around the ’90’s.

Its when Olivia gets a call from Cassandra to come home to Australia that her life changes forever. She finds the truth about her mom’s stay in the Japanese POW camp, which was really difficult for me to read, with the horrible emotions Olivia goes through I found myself crying myself, as I did much of this book. I enjoyed following Olivia and Ben and Cassandra and Sebastian. Though life was hard for them, they were two couples in love. And these four characters found their way into my heart and stayed there.

Much of this book was so difficult to read. I cried throughout the book, but there were happier moments that had me laughing at times. I’m giving Call My Name Five Stars. This is a book that will stay with me for a long time. It is my first book reading by this author but it definitely won’t be my last. This one is Five Stars for me.
A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

This was such a great book. I laughed and cried. The writing is superb; I felt transported to this tiny island on the Great Barrier Reef Islands. The science is impeccable which is important to me as I am a retired Clinical Laboratory Scientist. The author is an expert in neuroscience and has a deep love of the environment and it shows in her writing. I can't wait to read her other books

Another great book by Jenni Ogden. As a retired RN and Clinical Laboratory Scientist I always appreciate technical accuracy in novels involving medicine. Jenni Ogden always delivers. Her writing fills my head with pictures and emotions that keep me spellbound. Her characters are believable and their lives and coping mechanisms help me too. The psychology, medical action, historical accuracy and plots keep me hooked.
