We were so delighted when we got a call that Ben Berkley, editorial coordinator of The Onion Book of Known Knowledge, would be in the area over the Thanksgiving holiday, we immediately agreed to host him at Eagle Harbor Books. We have lots of fans of The Onion (also known as America's Finest News Source), and why wouldn't they want "a devastatingly important encylopedia containing the sum total of mankind's knowledge"?
Prepare to be dazzled!
Ben Berkley joined The Onion editorial team in 2010 and is currently pulling double duty as the staff’s editorial coordinator and resident hand model. Ben is a proud native of Tempe, Arizona and a graduate of a small, private liberal arts college called Arizona State University. He is wholly unqualified to speak in public.

The Onion says, "Replete with an astonishing assemblage of facts, illustrations, maps, charts, threats, and blood to edify even the most simple-minded book-buyer, this compendium is packed with valuable information — such as the life stages of an Aunt; places to kill one's self in Utica, New York; and the dimensions of a female bucket, or 'pail.' Must be purchased immediately to avoid the sting of eternal ignorance."
EVENT DETAILS Event ticket (admits two) is free when you purchase The Onion Book of Known Knowledge from Changing Hands Bookstore. Letter groups (printed on top of ticket) will be called at 6pm to fill seats and designated standing room. If available, seating and standing room opens to those without tickets at 6:45pm. Space cannot be guaranteed for late arrivals. Booksigning line forms by assigned letter group after the presentation. Those without tickets may get their books signed after ticket-holders, if time allows. Event details may be subject to unannounced changes. Our Dumb World: The Onion's Journey To Earth And Back - Presentation and Discussion With The Onion Editors
Join The Onion editors for a special presentation and discussion of its newest book, Our Dumb World, The Onion's Atlas Of The Planet Earth, at Highline Ballroom.
Select members of The Onion's massive expedition team will report on their findings, incorporating Atlas content and additional research to highlight a handful of the countries they've seen during their travels, as well as giving the inevitably rapt audience a sense of what's involved in putting together the world's single-most important reference atlas.
Tickets to the presentation are available online or at the door on the night of the event. Bring your copy of Our Dumb World to the event and have it signed by The Onion editors and expedition team. (lampbane)… (mer)
