Anne Marie Mongoven

This book is a meditation on Trinity. Mongoven's book is informed by the history of scholarship on the Trinity, however, the sources she uses are different from many other books on the Trinity. Where other books on the subject are more philosophical, Mongoven uses Scripture and Liturgical texts as her primary sources. Her methodology and writing style provides a book that is accessible to a wide audience. She understands Trinity as the ultimate expression of love. After explaining how God is love, she then looks at how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit each show an aspect of love. One aspect of the book that I found thought-provoking is that she drops the word "The" when talking about the Trinity, in other words the name of the Triune God is just Trinity. This maneuver supports her idea that the relationship between believers and God is a personal, intimate relationship.… (mer)
