Ordered this book after my trip to India and finishing the book "Reading Jackie." This is one of the books edited by Jackie Kennedy during the 1980s. Wonderful plates of miniatures. With contemporary work by an Indian miniaturist named Bannu. Couldn't resist after visits to various sites such as Agra, Jaipur, and this time around an Indian/British/Victorian palace extravaganza in Mysore. Bought a used copy through Amazon. A lovely book with fine colored plates of photos and paintings.

A very nicely illustrated work, with many coloured illustrations, text to go with the illutrations are informative, which is really what I had expected, the general text is not as in-depth as one might like, but that is compensated by the illustrations.

A collection of historic photos and paintings

This is one of my most beautiful and precious books. I saw a tatty but expensive copy in an Indian shop and was so pleased when I found a new hardback at half the price. Each medicinal plant is illustrated by a specially commissioned painting by a number of Indian artists, some in the Moghul miniature style, exquisite in colour and detail.
