In Benjamin Percy's post-apocalyptic reimagining of the Lewis and Clark saga, a super flu and nuclear fallout have made a husk of the world we know. A few humans live in outposts such as the Sanctuary—the remains of St. Louis—with its militant defense and fear-mongering leaders. Against the wishes of the Sanctuary, a small group sets out in secrecy. Led by Lewis Meriwether and Mina Clark, they hope to expand their infant nation, but the Sanctuary will not allow them to escape without a fight. This event will be hosted by St. Louis author Curtis Sittenfeld.

In the traditions of H.P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, and Justin Cronin, Benjamin Percy enters the national literary scene with an entirely original voice. The writer-in-residence at St. Olaf College, Percy is the award-winning author of two novels, Red moon and The wilding, as well as two books of short stories Refresh, refresh and The Language of Elk.

In Red moon, published by Hachette Book Group, Percy presents an explosive and deeply layered literary thriller set in the American West. For Claire, Patrick, and Chase, the world as they know it is about to change forever. Struggling to come to terms with who they are, these three seemingly disparate people find themselves in the midst of an unrecognizable world, and the battle for humanity is just beginning. Red moon takes readers on a force-of-nature ride blending suspense, adventure, and emotional depth.

Percy’s fiction and nonfiction have been read on National Public Radio, performed at Symphony Space, and published in diverse journals including Esquire, GQ, Time, The Wall Street Journal, and The Paris Review. He is the recipient of a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Whiting Writers’ Award, two Pushcart Prizes, and the Plimpton Prize. Percy’s work has appeared in Best American Short Stories and Best American Comics.

Percy is currently at work on the screenplay adaptation of The wilding for filmmaker Guillermo Arriaga (21 Grams, Babel) and on a novel called The Dead Lands. He lives with his family in Minnesota.

Siobhan Fallon lived at Fort Hood while her husband, an Army major, was deployed to Iraq for two tours of duty. Her stories and essays have appeared in Publishers’ Weekly, Women’s Day, Good Housekeeping, New Letters, Salamander, among others. Siobhan is currently working on a novel and writing a monthly fiction series for Military Spouse Magazine. She earned her MFA at the New School in New York City. She lives with her family near the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA.
