- Medora Field Perkerson was born in Lindale, Georgia. She did some freelance writing before joining the staff of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Magazine in 1920. In 1922, she married Angus Perkerson, its editor. The couple were close friends and mentors of some of the writers who worked for them, including Margaret Mitchell and Olive Ann Burns. For many years, Medora wrote a weekly personal advice column under the name "Marie Rose." She wrote two murder mystery novels, Who Killed Aunt Maggie? (1939) and Blood on her Shoe (1942), as well as a nonfiction book, White Columns in Georgia (1952), about historic homes. She was president of the Georgia Chapter of the National League of American Pen Women and of the Atlanta Women's Press Club.
