Found: Apocalypse Book i Name that Book (april 2022)

Recensioner

As you might notice my reading is a bit erratic at the moment. I've been more inclined towards paperbacks than reading on my phone, not sure why...
Anyway! Didn't really know what to think going into this novel but I think I'm going to enjoy the series. Read this in one setting (at about 11pm-1am) and really enjoyed the fast paced action. Not what I had expected.

Book source ~ ARC. My review is voluntary and honest.

Jesse is from Australia and one of four teenagers who crawl out some subway wreckage in NYC when what looks like the apocalypse begins. The city is mostly in ruins. There’s no one in authority around to ask for help. It’s just them. And some kind of infected people who drink anything they can get their mouths on. Especially blood. WTF Jesse dubs them Chasers because they chase anyone they think will make a good meal. They have to find a safe place to stay and figure what to do when the world around them has gone to shit. Piece of cake, right?

This isn’t a horrible story. Well, I mean, what happens is horrible and the aftermath is a nightmare, but the story itself is okay. The writing style is totally weird so I was irritated by it, but there’s a reason for it as you’ll see if you stick it out to the end. There are really no answers by books end and I find that most unsatisfactory. This book feels like it’s a set up for the future books. Not a whole lot going on, but the back story is now set to move forward. It’s like eating one of those snack-sized chocolate bars. Nice, but now what you really want is a full-sized one.

Ok, so that's TWO zombie books I've read in between one, and I think it's taking a toll on my head now, haha. Quarantine is not what I would call a heavy read, but I think I was in too much of a hurry to get it finished so I could move on to another book, that I crammed in many chapters at a go.

There were no graphic descriptions of the attack; just of the wounds, and that wasn't too bad as it is. All in all, it was an okay read. Would I have read the other 2 books prior to this one to find out the back story? No. I think this book did a pretty good job with filling in whatever plotholes there were left from the previous books.… (mer)

Sam, Eva, and Alex find themselves kidnapped and in a helicopter . They soon find themselves at The Academy where Sam becomes one of the Thirteen. The thirteen must save the world from evil but first the other 12 must be found. Alex and Eva become Sam's team as they fight off bad guys.
All 13 books are published by Scholastic and have been available from some time. A slow starter for middle grade readers, this series picks up speed fast.Readers of Harry Potter will read them all.
