Pop-up Shakespeare: Every Play and Poem in Pop-up 3-D av The Reduced Shakespeare Co.
A pop-up book about the brilliant life of William Shakespeare. It's large and spread out nature gives it a good pace for readers to go from fact to fact at their own pace. Unlike other pop-up books it isn't crowded and it folds orderly giving the reader space and time to look at things that are on the actual page. The facts are fun and give the the reader plenty of info on Shakespeare while admitting that there isn't much information about William to be known.
I found the Pop-Up Shakespeare by Jennie Maizels to be an entertaining and cute read. The pop-up style of the book makes it appropriate for a younger audience, but the text and explanations of his work seem to be more targeted towards older students. The book would be very difficult to read aloud because the organization and positions of the pop-ups isn't as cohesive as one would like in my opinion. However, I loved the way the author broke up the pages according to his history and how he categorized the plays. Even as an adult, I found it very educational, and it inspired me to revisit some of Shakespeare's works.… (mer)
