Color portraits with brief descriptions for Insects, and also the Non-Insect Arthropods -- such as scorpions, harvestmen, mites, spiders, tarantulas, weavers, and the crustacean sowbugs and millipedes/centipedes.

Invertebrate Arthropoda - no backbone jointed legs; all arthropods have external skeleton divided into segments. The adult Insects have a body divided into three parts, antennae, three pairs of legs, and wings. Not all insects have wings, but all winged invertebrates are insects. Nice to know.

What does the adult "antlion" look like? Do pillbugs damage plants? And the silverfish has changed little for over 300 million years. Well, there you go. California Indians ate large stoneflies regularly, and they make good hook bait. [36]

Almost half of insects eat or parasitize other insects. [6] Great value as pollinators and useful producers of honey, wax, lac, dyes, songs and food. The vast majority are links in the web of life, neither harmful nor helpful to us, but indispensable for coexistence. [7]
