The Tanner Humanities Center at the University of Utah presents the Tanner Lecture on Human Values with Michael Sandel, "Casino Capitalism: Gambling, Investing, and the Ethics of Speculation." Sandel is the author of Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do? and more recently, What Money Can’t Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets.

Dr. Michael Sandel is the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Government at Harvard University. He is the author of Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do? and most recently, What Money Can’t Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets, which was published in April 2012. He is well-known for his popular “Justice” course, the first Harvard class to be made freely available online and on public television. Over 15,000 students have filled his classroom to hear his discussions of Justice, equality, democracy, and citizenship.

The Tanner Lecture on Human Values is a distinguished series that instigates educational and scientific discussions relating to human values. The Lectures are held annually at Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, University of Michigan, Stanford University, University of California Berkeley, University of Utah, University of Oxford, and the University of Cambridge.
