Snowtime av Saunders
"Snowtime" follows 2 ducks during their journey to find shelter from the snow. I did not find the text to be particularly engaging for a group of students. I was unable to find a clear path for questioning since the book was hard to predict. I would not recommend this book as a classroom read aloud.
½Dibble and Dabble are not the most intelligent animals that you would ever read about in a book. Snow begins to fall and many of Dibble and Dabble's friends move to warm shelter. Dibble and Dabble stay outside in the freezing cold, almost getting trapped in a pond. The book takes you through the journey of finding shelter for Dibble and Dabble. They eventually end up inside a theater hall, they are the stars of the play. I did not find that the book had a concrete plot, nor did I find the illustrations to be interesting. Therefore I would not share it with a group of students.… (mer)
