3360. The Interregnum of Despair: Hoover, Congress, and the Depression, by Jordan A. Schwarz (read Oct 15, 2000) This 1970 book is one I have long wanted to read. I enjoyed it a lot and I really liked that the author spent a lot of time talking about the persons prominent during the years 1929 to 1933--a time before I could follow the news. The book is plainly unfavorable to Hoover, but not blatantly so and I thought it an excellent account of a time now forgotten but filled with high interest for one as fascinated by political history as am I.… (mer)
