This is the follow-up volume to the Original 1977 Red Book set of rules, dealing with Wounds, Plagues, Economics trade & prospecting, and Siege rules with magic & mass combat. The system was clunky, but the research was painstaking. Those in possession of a copy should carefully pass it on, after comparing it with the more modern versions of Medieval Fantasy rules, including the current set from Britannia Games.
The machine got confused on the titling, as the typeface is ambiguous, so I still don't have a ULTB! There are at least seven more copies out there.… (mer)

Shortly after Dungeons and dragons appeared, Ed and Wilf thought they could do better. They sat down and began to type. Knowing about medieval literature, and being obsessives, they produced over 200 pages of double-columned, 6-point prose, setting out a complex and detailed vision of life in a medieval context fantasy world. For the time it was breathtaking work, and has had an influence in the world of Fantasy gaming to this day. It'shard to read for long stretches, being rules and not literature, but you could do it all. Everything you thought of, and usually a lot more. I am speaking of the original Fantasy Games unlimited edition, not so much the Britannia games currently available production. It lacks the fifth star because of the 6-point type.… (mer)
