Rapid Wheelmen & Schuler Books Present Author/Illustrator Jef Mallett

Join Rapid Wheelmen, a bicycle club based in Grand Rapids, Michigan that strives to promote fun, safe cycling for all through rides, races, tours and advocacy. This month, they will co-host an author talk and booksigning in the Schuler Studio with Jef Mallett, illustrator of Roadie: The Misunderstood World of a Bike Racer, Trizophrenia and the popular Frazz comics.

Jamie Smith

Jamie Smith, artist and literacy activist, will speak on sequential art and present a slide show. Smith is a well-known local graphic designer and artist who teaches drawing and sequential art at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He curated the show Cartoon North, on Alaska-themed sequential art from pre-purchase days to the present, and organizes regular cartoon jams, 24-hour Comics Days, and participates in various literary events such as Read Comics in Public Day and Guys Read (in the public schools).
