If you are familiar with the history of modern urban warfare, this book will show you the new wrinkles in Iraq. The most important thing to realize is that this is a counterinsurgency campaign, not Stalingrad. This puts serious constraints on the use of firepower, and means the combat troops will continue to live amongst their enemies, even after winning battle after battle.
If you are heading over there, it's definitely worth the money. It will put your training in perspective.
It is NOT the best introductory book to urban warfare, counterinsurgency, Iraq, or the modern US Army. It doesn't intend to be.… (mer)
