This book has it all: sex, adventure, romance, and humor! Well maybe it doesn't have it ALL, but it is nevertheless fun and informative, and just a bit scandalous, too! Strorm focuses on unusual reproductive habits and/or anatomy of more than 50 animals, from bedbugs to rhinos. While the topic does appeal to our prurient natures, it is also quite educational, and a testament to the amazing diversity and adaptability of the animal kingdom. The lighthearted writing adds to the fun. On each page, certain random phrases have been placed in boldface, so that scanning through the pages you have things like this pop out at you: "creature-based sitcom," "the worst penis in the world," "nerd bluegill," "four tonnes of excited elephant," and "oceanic bucking bronco."

This book is not for the kiddies, but it is a wonderful little volume for animal lovers, and, as the author says, "I don't see why I should have to know all these terrible, terrible things and you should get off scot free."… (mer)
