Carol Swain Ph D.

Born in poverty in a four-room sharecropper house in the rural South, Dr. Swain was the only one of twelve siblings to attend college. She earned graduate degrees in political science and law. Her politics evolved from liberalism to libertarianism to conservatism.

The purpose of writing this book arises from her love of the United States. She fears losing it to the cultural elite and hopes to equip the reader in "reclaiming [the] nation's faith and promise. The book includes chapters on abortion, family matters, immigration, and racial politics. She urges a return to Biblical values as a means to address these contemporary issues.

Although I agree with Dr. Swain's views on these domestic issues, I'm not as much a Biblical literalist as she is. I believe less in the judging God of the Old Testament than I do in the loving God of the New Testament. I don't believe that God will punish the United States as much as I believe that man's misguided behavior will.… (mer)
