Nancy Elaine Turner was born in Texas in 1953. She grew up in California and Arizona. Her love for writing began with writing fiction in community college and continueing her passion as she earned her bachelor's degree in Fine Arts Studies from the University of Arizona with a triple major in visa mer Creative Writing, Music, and Studio Art. She now enjoys writing historical fiction and creates her characters by mingling traits of various people. - Nancy Elaine Turner was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Southern California and Arizona. She began writing fiction as an assignment for a class at Pima Community College and completed a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts Studies from the University of Arizona in 1999 with a triple major in Creative Writing, Music, and Studio Art. She lives in Tucson with her husband and Snickers, a dog rescued by F.A.I.R. She has two married children and four grandchildren. She also enjoys the outdoors, theater, movies, and antiques.

Great book. I love when great books are author's firsts. This book reminded me a lot of a South West version of Gone with the Wind. There were a lot of the same pieces at work in this book. I am eager to read her follow ups now. Thanks for the recommendation Maggie
Not as great as the first one but I still couldn't put it down. It dragged in parts but overall thumbs up.
I loved this book. The author took me to Arizona in a different time and the adventure was amazing. The story was so compelling and important. I loved the characters and I laughed and cried along with them. What a great book!
2.5 stars, generously rounding up to 3. This story was kind of all over the place. The writing style felt disjointed, like the plot just bopped from place to place. Toward the last 1/4, characters started to get a little more depth, and I started to care a bit about what happened to them. For the first 3/4 of the book, I was ready to rate it 1 or 2 stars.
