This is certainly a series to watch out for. I don't think there's a sequel yet, but I hope there'll be.
This drew me in right from the start, and it kept me glued to my earphones until the end. Yes, it is a YA dystopie, so I'm not among the target group, but then I love YA novels, and this book is no exception.

The idea itself isn't novel, I was reminded of other well-known novels with the same topic, but that doesn't mean the story is old. On the contrary, it is a very refreshing tale of what happens if you don't fit the norm. Keeva needs to find out who she is, what she is supposed to do, what is truth and what are lies, who is friend and who is foe. It's a coming of age story, and so much more.
There are very many twists and turns, and some of the truths Keeva discovers are completely unexpected.
Lucinda Clare did a fabulous job at narrating the story, bringing all the characters to life, as well as the world. It was like watching a film (I can absolutely imagine this on the screen).
The authors as well as the narrator were new to me, but I'll watch out for other books by them, and I really hope I won't have to wait for the sequel very long.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. As always, this did not affect my review.

With all the positive reviews talking about this being an unputdownable page-turner that will keep you entertained for two days, this review is to say that it is rubbish and only takes a few hours to read.

It had the lamest twist ever and we're probably just lucky that the characters weren't wearing tin-foil hats and discussing crab people living in the hollow Earth. Straight out of the conspiracy theory nutter handbook.

Presumably the sequel will have mind-control chemtrails being sprayed by the shape-shifting reptilian overlords who have taken the form of world leaders and celebrities because reasons.

NB: posting review on behalf of my partner.

Keeva Tee is a seemingly ordinary 15 year old girl. Living in a world free of war and violence, she considers herself lucky, blessed even, to be a part of the Global Governance. Using his brilliant mind and world changing technological advances, Sobek Vesely has lead the Global Governance for over 50 years. There is no war, famine, or disease. Everyone is happy, healthy contributors to society. Children are sent away to camp at age 5 to be paired with their life partners and return at age 15 to be reunited and learn which job they will be assigned within one of six work communities. During Keevas three and a half week stint at Camp Monarch, her well constructed world views slowly crumble. Unable to be paired and imprinted with her predetermined mate, Keeva finds out that she is an Anomaly and begins to realize that things aren't as they seem. The camp/government are keeping deadly secrets. Piecing together truths from lies with the help of a rouge camp instructor, Inelia as well as a harried and cryptic message from her father, Keeva embarks on a life changing journey to "The Underground" to join forces with the resistance in an effort to quite literally, save humanity.

Overall I really enjoyed this dystopian fiction. Although it felt similar to a Divergent/The Giver/Hunger Games hybrid, it was also very unique in concept. The authors really crafted a well written, futuristic society which drew some interesting parallels to social movement concerns that we as a society are plagued with today. The characters are all multi-dimensional and *alert* *alert* literary crush happening with Kai. He oozes charisma and charm while at the same time coming off as very genuine and not overly cliched. Keeva definitely experiences a lot of character growth throughout the novel and I am eager to see where book two takes her (this book must be part of a planned series). I enjoyed how the book alternated first person perspectives between Keeva and Sobek Veselys son, Calix. Juries still out on whether or not I think hes a goodie or a badie though, I just can't make up my mind! Hurry up and finish the next one so I can figure it out ladies!

I definitely recommend adding this one to your TBR pile.
