Kort biografi
Judith Viorst (born February 2, 1931) is an American author, newspaper journalist, and psychoanalysis researcher. She is perhaps best known for her children's literature, such as The Tenth Good Thing About Barney (about the death of a pet) and the Alexander series of short books.

In the latter part of the 1970s, after two decades of writing for children and adults, Viorst turned to the study of Freudian psychology. After six years of study at Washington Psychoanalytic Institute, in 1981 she became a research graduate affiliated with the institute.
Judith Viorst lives in Washington, DC, with her husband, political writer Milton Viorst. They have three grown sons: Anthony Jacob Viorst, an attorney practicing in the Denver, Colorado area; Nicholas Nathan "Nick" Viorst, an Assistant District Attorney for New York County, and Alexander Noah Viorst.

Recensioner

I love this book, it is a great way to discuss financial literacy with children.

This book had a lot of potential to teach the concept that bad days happen, but it failed to teach any ways to cope with it.

I think…

Judith Viorst is a Whole Mood. She does remind me a bit of Beverly Cleary.

Sometimes children are like that.

Even in Australia. 😉

I picked up this book based on the cover- And the book did not disappoint. While a children's book, the story will amuse adults - about a little girl who runs away to find herself a Brontosaurus for a pet, and when she finds it, its considerable more than she bargained for.

The artwork is great, the story takes a different approach to the bratty kid who wants everything. Has just enough scariness (and can do attitude) that will make every kid smile. Highly recommended for those readers out of pictures books but getting into chapter books.… (mer)
