A very poignant, deeply moving story about two women whose lives are shattered by the war, about difficult questions during crazy times, dramatic decisions and their consequences. I usually avoid books about war, they present people at their worst and they are too emotionally draining for me, but in this book we have decent people trying to do their best and I appreciated it. Four and a half stars.

A short book about growing up and family, not bad, but slow and quite depressing. My main problem with this book was that there was not even one enjoyable character, they are all rather toxic and destroy one another. Not for me, three stars.

It was an incredibly boring book and I have no idea who might enjoy it. The book concenrates on describing places connected with Sienkiewicz, but the problem is, that most of those places got destroyed through the years and there is nothing interesting there any longer. How long can you read, that there used to be one house or another, but it doesn't exist now? I didn't enjoy it, one and a half stars.
