I can't remember the last time I set a book aside at the five per cent mark. I've listened to the (short) prologue, one point of view from the ex-wife and one point of view from the new wife and that's enough to let me know that this book isn't for me.

I already know that I'm not going to empathise with either woman but that's not why I'm setting the novel aside. It's the writing that's getting to me.

The interior monologues from the women sound not like a person's thought but like position papers summarising their respective histories and the expectations and concerns about the upcoming weekend. I don't feel that I've met the characters. I feel like I've been given a briefing on who they are so that I can play a murder mystery game.

The audiobook gives each woman a narrator, which is just as well as their language and speech patterns are so close that I wouldn't have known who was speaking.

Then there are small annoyances like have the phrase 'the oncoming snow' repeated often enough for me to notice it in such a short piece of text.

I know I'm just going to get more critical of the prose as the book goes on and that I won't be able to sit back and pretend I'm playing Cluedo, so I'm setting this aside and counting it as a buying error on my part.

I just couldn't get into this one. The women were all weak and shiny and a bit submissive to their husbands/boyfriends which never sits right with me. At 1/3 into the book, one thing happened and the rest of them time it's the characters talking circles around the event. Plus I kept forgetting who was married to who.

Great psychological thriller with an ending I did not see coming

Hannah has been single for a year after she left her boyfriend, who then went on a little stalking rampage after they broke up.
Her friend decided it was time she needed to start dating again and signed her up on a dating website. Lucky her she hit gold on the first match she made and her friend quickly encourages her to go on a date!
The first date is a match made in heaven! Hannah and Alex have so much in common it’s unreal, almost to good to be true! Hannah being the good natured person she is, has already fell in love and know they are perfect together.
Alex is truly a prince and spoils Hannah, but when weird things start happening to Hannah again, her friends begin to wonder if Alex is truly the Prince Hannah takes him for or if this is too good to be true?

My take: This was a cute, fast easy read. When something is too good to be true, it usually is! There is twist at the end you won’t see coming so stay tuned!

Thank you for allowing me to review this book, for my honest feedback @netgalley @bookouture
