Allmänna fakta

I'm loving this book so far! The pictures & instructions are very straight forward and easy to follow. I'm almost done with my knit stitch swatch/coaster & ready to begin my very first knitting project! Very happy.

Summary: This book is a poem about colors. All colors from Yellow, Blue, Green, Red, Orange, Pink, Purple, and Brown. Each child picked a color and illustrated about it.

Personal Reaction: I thought this poem book is a great way to get the children involved. The only downside to this book is that it is in black and white. Other than that it's great!

Classroom Extention Ideas:
1) Let each child go through all the colors and draw different pictures for them.

2) Have each child make a list of rhyming words that rhyme with their pictures.

3) Ask the class to bring an object from home that is the same color from the book.

This is about the super heroes sleeping during a storm when a lightning bolt hits the flag pole that chases over to the backpacks and the backpacks come to life. Once the super heroes the noise, they go to investigate and try to make friends with the backpacks but some of the super heroes are a bit stand offish, When they are trying to figure out how the backpacks came to life another strike of lightning hits and the backpacks are no longer alive. Thats when they realize how the backpacks come alive to begin with.

I thought this was a cute book. I feel like it would be a good read for maybe first or second grade.

Classroom Activity: I would let the students make a comic book for themself with their own super heroes. They would have to pick an item that is not alive to base their story around, and would have to make up a way for the item to come alive.

Classroom Activity: I would have the students make up their own super hero. They would have to tell me what kind of powers they would have, and what would make them a super hero. Their summary would have to be very detailed. They would also have to draw a picture of what they would like as a super hero.

This book contains two stories with one on one side, and the other on the other side. The first story is Get Out. This story is about how it is morning time and the Super S Squad work on doing their chores. Once they finished their chores, most of the squad wants to stay inside and watch tv except Jen. Jen wants to go outside where she thinks of a lot of fun activities to do. She talks the squad into going outside, where they all end up having fun. The other story in the book is called Play Grounded. This is a story about how it is a rainy day outside and the Super S Squad ends up having fun inside with Rollo the Robot.

Personal Reaction:
I thought both of these were cute. I think this is very easy for a beginning reader to bridge to a chapter book. This helps them get into the swing of reading with the helpful use of pictures. I think the Super S Squad make it fun and exciting that kids can relate to.

Extension Ideas:
1) Have the students write in their daily writing journal about what they like to do on rainy days. Have the class discuss what they wrote afterwards.
2) Have the students draw their favorite activity to do outside then present their drawing and talk about it to the class.
