3430. North Dakota A Bicentennial History, by Robert P. Wilkins and Wynona Huchette Wilkins (read Apr 8, 2001) This is a 1977 book but North Dakota political history has always fascinated me and I could not resist reading this when I noticed it on the library shelf, since I remembered how much I enjoyed History of North Dakota, by Elwyn B. Robinson when I read it on Mar 7, 1989. There were some chapters herein which were of lesser interest, but the earlier part of the book fascinated, and the parts on the state's weird political history from 1915 to 1960 were great reading. The book exudes a kind of negative view of the state, contrasted to my view of it as an interesting place. I wish it had been a more recent history.… (mer)
