I'm more confused now

I hoped to gain insight to life after death but after reading this book I am more confused then ever. The book seems to be full of contradictions.

The book starts out by outlining some NDE experiences. This was actually pretty interesting to me. it goes downhill pretty quickly for me.

Next it goes into simple one and two paragraphs about a large number of NDE experiences. There is so little information in this section (about 1/3 of the book) that I got very little out it.

Later the author lines out different categories of what he has concluded as truths based on his studies of NDE. In each category he backs up his conclusions by quoting numerous NDE people. The problem is that these quotes were already stated in the first section of the book. And he uses the same quotes in many of categories so you end up reading the same thing many times. Before I realized what was happening I kept thinking I accidently went backwards in the book and started reading sections again. Then I realized he was just repeating himself.

There are also numerous things I find that seemed to be contradictory. Some people who have had an NDE state there is no hell, others state there is. Some say there is no Satan, others state they were tortured by devilish beings (well maybe both of those could be considered true if you take a narrow view of each statement). But these are just two examples of several experiences that seemed to contradict each other.

He also seems to infer things that don't make sense to me. The sky is blue therefore the grass cannot be blue? Okay, well grass is not blue but how can you conclude that just because you see the sky is blue? (He didn't really say this but you get the point)

An example of a conclusion I had a real problem with is that hell was not forever, you can escape it. One Bible verse he quotes to prove this is how Jesus will forgive you sins against Him but He will not forgive sins against the Holy Spirit. He concludes that since Jesus will forgive sin against Him that you must be able to escape Hell. I'm not saying that it is not true, it just seems like a real stretch to draw that conclusion based on this particular Bible verse. In other sections he also concludes that everyone who is in Hell will eventually escape it. But this particular Bible verse that he uses in his book seems to me to say just the opposite "sins against the Holy Spirit CANNOT be forgiven". Maybe I am committing the same error I am accusing the author of by making bad inferences but it seems to me this Bible verse is saying that it is possible to end up in Hell for all eternity. This is one example...I could quote many more that seem to be contradictions but honestly don't feel I've already spent too much time on this review.

That is not to say that much of what the author has concluded is incorrect...I just don't believe everything he says CAN be true, which makes it hard to know what is true and what is not.
