This series continues to move along in an interesting fashion

Protecting England's Empire and trade become the paramount objective for the HMN. Transitioning from sail to steam will be awkward and fitful but necessary as the next generation of Courtenays move into leadership positions.

Withecombe has delivered another excellent episode in this longstanding and well-regarded series. The French are stirring things up in Africa and the Empire responds by giving Admiral Courtenay a squadron to set things right. Transition to steam, although via paddle wheels, and explosive shells have begun and they are used aptly and well in this fast-paced story. The full set of Courtenay military might make a wonderful supporting cast for the Admiral.
