OMG! A book that advocates for the healing power of rape. Graphically.
And embellishes the pages with so much semen and blood, and does such gross stuff with those body fluids. Ewwwwww.

A homeless man agrees to have a hole drilled in his head for cash in an unlicensed medical experiment to see if the trepanation will open up a sixth sense. Since this is manga, when his perception of reality starts to shift, the unstable medical student running the experiment immediately thinks to apply the results to stalking a teenage girl. But everything until that icky shift was pretty interesting.
Yo, this is like Violet Evergarden for horror-aficionado dudes! The main character is able to see people's "homunculi," which is like a person's insecurities. During this volume, he uses his talent to help treat a Yakuza boss of his past trauma. He did so by de-shelling him, and then translating the emotions the Yakuza boss felt with the emotions the main character felt. By the end, they both learned a great deal more about themselves. This plays into the title "Homunculus" as the main character is growing into a fully-formed human being.
The only thing I'm not sure about is if all of these manifestations will only represent past trauma, or if it will extend to also showcasing mental illnesses not born of any traumatic past. I'll continue using the PTSD tag for now, but if they focus on biological causes of mental issues, I may need to add a new tag.… (mer)

A truckload of hallucinatory art works hard to hide the fact that the majority of this book is just two guys having a long and boring conversation as they play at pop psychology with their various daddy and gender issues. The author exploits transgender issues with as little sensitivity and as much stupid shock value as he did with women's issues last time.
Yeah, I'm done with this garbage.
