For everyone who thinks that BookTok books are always not the best: Then this book is a huge exception! Just read it trust me!

It's a glorious mix of How to Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter and a little bit of The Hunger Games and I simply devoured it!

The book jumps right of in the action and never speeds down, I simply loved every bit of it. I enjoyed all of the characers and at the end I had a little tear in my eye. But the biggest reason you should read this book is because of Violet and Xaden! OMG I love their energy together. He is very protecting but leaves her the room she needs to grow. The only reasons you shouldn't read this books are you will become so addicted everything else becomes unimportant and the book ends with a huge cliffhanger which is why you will have to buy the next part as fast as possible.… (mer)

I enjoyed this sequel to Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros even MORE than Fourth Wing.

I listened to the audio and skipped over the four-ish "spicy" parts (yes, I get it: Violet loves/wants Xaden, but I didn't need it graphically spelled out for me).
More world building, politics, intrigue and magic, please (and dragons!).

The action and storytelling was fast paced. New enemies and old friends.
We get to see the trials of the second years, and how their bonds are tested and strengthened.

Lots of surprises here/secrets revealed. And a cliffhanger, of course.

Small nitpicks, but I understand why these aren't so:

1) That dragon, Tairn should be attached to Violet at the hip thisclose.
2) Violet and Xaden could solve 95% of problems if they just talked more.… (mer)

Military Romance at its Finest.
This is the third book I have read by Rebecca Yarros, and she is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. In life timing is everything and this story certainly puts that to the test for Izzy & Nate. They were brought together during an airplane crash, you would think the perfect situation for a romance to blossom, but no. Nate is torn away from Izzy because this flight was his transportation to basic training. Through the years they find themselves back together for brief encounters, but it never was the right time. In the end everything is revealed, and the world becomes as it should.
I enjoyed the story line a lot. I have a Military background and could relate with both Izzy and Nate as my spouse was also in the military. The characters were well introduced, and their chemistry clearly written. I was not a fan of the Now & Then, back, and forth, of the storyline but understood how it helped build the book to a climatic ending. There were twists and turns in the story that kept me wanting to read just one more chapter to find out what happened. Truly a very entertaining book. I would highly recommend it.… (mer)
