Timothy Zahn was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 1, 1951. He received a B.S. degree in physics from Michigan State University in East Lansing in 1973 and a M.S. degree in physics from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1975. In 1975, Zahn began writing science fiction as a visa mer hobby. When his thesis advisor died in 1979, effectively wiping out three years of work, he decided to try making a living at writing. Since then, Zahn has published short stories, novelettes, novels, and short fiction collections. He is best known for writing the Star Wars the Thrawn Trilogy: Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command. The novella, Cascade Point (1984) won a Hugo Award. He also writes numerous series including Cobra, Blackcollar, Dragonback, and Conquerors' Trilogy. Zahn co-authored with David Weber A Call To Duty, the first book in the Manticore Ascendant Series, which made the New York Times bestseller list in October 2014. (Bowker Author Biography) visa färre

The Last Command (Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy) av Timothy Zahn
A fitting conclusion to the trilogy. It was more exciting then the first two and was exciting!
I finished the first of the series and quickly got the next one. I have a few books to read other than these ones, but I disregarded them for this book. And now I am going to disregard them again for part three, The Last Command!
Timothy Zahn még az 1990-es évek elején írta ezt a trilógiát, a Jedi visszatér után vagyunk pár évvel. A trilógia második kötetében is főleg a jól ismert karaktereket követjük (Leia, Luke, Han) de visszatér a trilógia főgonosza (Thrawn admirális) és van pár új karakter is. Igazából ez egy korrekt űroperett aminek az adja a különlegességét, hogy a Csillagok Háborúja világában játszódik. Van benne pár jó ötlet, de nyilván be kell tartania a világ szabályait, túl nagy meglepetés nem lehet benne.
Bár általánosan elfogadott, hogy ez az egyik legjobb regény ebben a világban, azért én nem éreztem azt a nagy különlegességet, nem hiszem, hogy ennyire népszerű lett volna a Csillagok Háborúja nélkül. Ráadásul a Disney új világában ez a könyv már nem a kánon része (bár pár dolog átkerült belőle), vagyis már a Csillagok Háborúja rajongóinak sem feltétlenül ezt érdemes elolvasniuk.… (mer)

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved seeing how Thrawn started out before his time with the Empire. It's cool to see him be not as competent as he is in the future. The military stuff was a bit hard to understand, but it was still fun to read. I'm looking forward to reading the next book. 9/10 - September 30, 2023
