I never really thought of myself as a niche reader. Then one day I was in a favorite used bookstore. Started chatting with another customer. He asked what I read and before I could answer the owner said, "Feminist science fiction." What? So the owner started listing all my recent purchases. He had a point.

I also own every single Louis L'Amour book - and I've read each one, most multiple times. I also own an unhealthy number of Barbara Cartland novels. Judge if you must.

People fascinate me.
I sometimes feel cheated that I only get to ride this roller coaster one time so I do my best to experience life from as many as angles as possible. I want to see the world through your eyes. I want to jam as many perspectives as I can into my solo trip. So I read voraciously. I listen to music. I listen to people. I pry. I put myself into so many shoes I have blisters on my feet. I am amazed and astounded and frightened and thrilled at how different the same world looks through a variety of eyes. If I were a deeper person this would lead to compassion and enlightenment. But I'm just a kid in a candy shop, grasping all the shiny wrappers I can.
