During a scavenger hunt at AJ’s Halloween party, she snaps a photo in front of the neighborhood bully’s house. She doesn’t realize she’s captured the face of a terrorist hiding out with the family. Her dog, Max is a seventy pound collie-German shepherd mix that is a little lazy and kind of afraid of thunder. But when he learns eleven-year-old AJ and her twelve-year-old BFF, Khristian are in danger, Max doesn’t hesitate to break the Animal Code of Silence to warn them.

Max pleads with the kids not to reveal that he can talk. He fears that adults would raise a fuss about it and make him give interviews or appear on TV talk shows. So Max, AJ and Khristian must solve the mystery of the scruffy men by themselves.

After reading her first chapter book, The Pink Maple House, Cheryl Harvey spent many happy hours at her local library in Marseilles, Illinois. That experience combined with her love of animals and a desire to write wholesome books for young people led to the idea for the AJ and Friends series of books. Harvey has worked as a technical writer and AJ and Friends: The Discovery is her first book. She resides in Largo, Florida with her family, 2 dogs, 3 ferrets and 4 cats.
