Om migThe Morris-Jumel Mansion was built eleven years before the American Revolution, in 1765, by British Colonel Roger Morris and his American wife, Mary Philipse. The hilltop location proved an ideal location for the family’s summer home. Today, the Morris-Jumel Mansion is a cultural institution integral to the surrounding Washington Heights neighborhood.
Om mitt bibliotekThe Achelis-Bodman American History Library at Morris-Jumel Mansion will open in May 2016 to scholars of all ages. With a collection of more than 800 American History books (and growing) in English and Spanish, the library provides a quiet reading space for children, families, and serious students of American History. Other resources in the library include access to 50 online academic journal databases, a hands-on curiosity cabinet for children, a microscope and slides, and a telescope.
