Om migRetired from research and embracing all the pursuits that took a backseat to the Daily Grind. Thus, reading for pure pleasure ~~

* Fiction ~ mysteries, fantasy, historical fiction
* Non-fiction ~ Biographies, memoirs, intrepid female explorers in the 1800's - early 1900's
* Literary fiction ~ Penelope Lively, Anne Tyler, Anita Brookner are favourites.

Om mitt bibliotekBookshelf philosophy:
* Keep only that which I will re-read or use for reference
* Buy the book only if I adore it and know I will re-read it many times.

Interpreting my star ratings:
No Stars, I was too conflicted to decide.

to Not particularly well-written or didn't live up its public synopsis; maybe I just didn't like it (because tastes vary).

Meh, generally meaning the theme/plot was not very engaging; or, the plot was too elaborate or drawn-out to enjoy.

If this genre or author appeals to you, be sure to give it a try. I enjoyed the read and thought the plot had lots of merit.

to
I loved the story and would return to re-read it through the years. Beware that I'm often immune to the flaws in 4 & 5 star books, if I just happen to love the writing anyway.
