Om mitt bibliotek: I buy academic non fiction without abandon, if an academic publisher is having a sale, I will almost certainly find something interesting.

Largely focused on long 19th c France, also decently represented: leftist political theory, queer topics, late Qajar Iran, monstrosity/Otherness/abjection, and unsurprisingly, French opera history.

I also collect French editions of Le Fantome de l'Opera and aim to have a copy of every scholarly book that discusses it.
Books that discuss topics related to F de l'O are tagged 'fantome ref' and books that actually discuss the story are in the Le Fantome de l'Opera collection along with copies of the text.

I have an MA in Egyptology (where I studied gender and textile production) but I now I waste my potential and study French history independently. I am currently focused on analysis of Leroux's Le Fantome de l'Opera and thus, the early Third Republic and the Commune but also regularly dabble in the early July Monarchy and the early years of the revolution. I am particularly interested in studying gender and masculinity.

I taught myself French which means my pronunciation is terrible but I do read it.

Other than research, I enjoy growing strange plants from seed, quilting, knitting, and a variety of other crafts.
