Om mitt bibliotek
I try not to get into a rut with the books I read; once in a while I'll pick up a book I might never have bothered looking for, just to read something different. Reading is all about feeding my mind and my imagination, and sometimes I need to taste something completely foreign, or that seems unappetizing, in order to put more familiar flavors into perspective. So while certain dominant themes and subjects show up in my book collection, there's also some really crazy out-of-the-blue things, too.
Om mig
I'm a reclusive 38-year-old spinster with seven cats and roughly 10,000 books. Yeah, I'm a stereotype. Yay, me.

I have BAs in History and Anthropology, and spent two quarters in graduate school before dropping out--I'm just too relentlessly curious to specialize. My particular interests are environmental history and the history of technology, as well as the ways in which environment, technology, and ideology interact with each other and shape human societies.

Right now, I have a burning interest in branding, consumption, and identity, and the ways in which people construct and reinforce identity through the goods they buy. I'm also having a lot of fun watching batshit-insane Harry Potter fans as they make clear that "fan" is short for "fanatic." In other words, I do pop-culture anthropology for fun. I'm a nerd.
