Om migI grew up loving books and was big on going to the library where I focused on dog stories, horse stories, wilderness stories and finally nurse stories. My dad built me a bookshelf which I still own almost 50 years later. Part of the love for books was that I was an only child. I was allowed to purchase quite a few of those inexpensive Scholastic Book Club books and still have a few of those (remember The Snake that Went to School?). Swiss Family Robinson and Jungle Book had to be held together with rubber bands I read them so often. I still have a few.
My hobby is genealogy (NC, TN, IL, MO) and local history (La Mirada, Los Angeles County, CA and Franklin County, IL)
I am a 60-something going back to college to major in History. I finally have the opportunity to attend full-time and am very excited. My previous college experience was science-based (I wanted to be a nurse), which I still enjoy, but want to expand my life.
I am currently reading "From Dawn to Decadence" by Jacques Barzun and am in awe. I tend to take notes when I read something good.
I love pencils, pens, paper, lists, libraries and classrooms.

Om mitt bibliotekI have pared my collection down to one bookcase after several moves. I plan to continue refining my collection so if you see something you want, there is a good chance I would give it to you, even those I like.
I rarely purchase books and when I do they're used.
Books about history have caught my eye for the first time and I am thinking they may be the exception to my buying more rule. After getting "Dawn to Decadence" for $5 on eBay, I can't wait to get more.
