- I LOVE to read!!
Why is reading a book ALWAYS better than watching the movie version? Because your mind doesn't have a budget...
Much like the weather up here in New England, my life changes and changes...this time for the better!
I'm currently semi retired and run a home based etailing business, specializing in many different forms of media. Hard to find VHS, DVD, LP, 45s, 78s, CDs, cassettes, and books are my specialty. I LOVE working for myself!
And so I read. And read and read...and read. I've become on a nodding acquaintance with the folks at the Boston Public Library-Copley Square that I visit at least twice per week. Also with my local bookstore owner. I've done business with him (them) over about 15 years. Now I have time to attend author readings, book signings and other fun stuff. Stop and smell the roses they always say...
I purchased a Kindle from Amazon so I can get working on my large backlog of past due material to read and review. I promise to read everything that was sent to me. I'll be much better at reading on the fly (as many folks who have sent me ebooks will appreciate!)
I finally completed cataloging my collection (10,000 + volumes). So many old friends...Problem is, as I look through my collection I realize that many books I'd read a while ago I'd like to read again. So I've marked everything I previously read as 'reread soon' unless I read it within the last few months.
I'm never without a book. I'd almost feel naked!
When I go away for an extended trip I ALWAYS pack 4-5 books to take along just in case. This has saved me many times from long waits and layovers.
THANK YOU to all Library Thing'ers for helping foster and facilitate reading everywhere!!
(12/10/2009) The Stephen King EW 2009 collection consists of King's Beach Reads and Best of 2009 lists and 2010 - 2013 recommendations printed in Entertainment Weekly magazine.
(12/15/2009) I have added the Classic SF-Unowned collection as my wish list for SF to read. The list comes from the Top 200 SF novels that comprise a statistical survey of sci-fi literary awards, noted critics and popular polls. To qualify a book has to be generally regarded as science fiction by credible sources and/or recognized as having historical significance to the development of the genre. For books that are part of a series (with some notable exceptions) only the first book in the series is listed.
(List updated 31 December 2013)See the list (and others) at

(12/31/2013) I have added the Classic Fantasy-Unowned collection as my wish list for Fantasy to read. See Classic SF for source and explanation. - Om mig
